Comments
See Comments under Erigeron pusillus Nutt. Some taxonomists (e.g., Cronquist) treat this species and others in the genus Conyza. However, the taxonomic treatment of the large Asteraceae Subtribe Conyzinae is still unsettled, the genus Conyza as currently circumscribed in not monophyletic, and the morphological boundaries between Conyza and Erigeron are not well understood, according to Nesom (2008, Lundellia 11: 8-38). At least for now, it seems prudent to lump Conyza under a broad concept of Erigeron as Flora of Virginia and Flora of the Southeastern U.S. have done.
Habitat
Fields, pastures, clearings, roadsides, gardens, and other disturbed open habitats; may be temporarily extremely abundant on recently clear-cut or burned sites. Common throughout.
