Comments
The circumboreal Campanula rotundifolium complex is the subject of ongoing studies that have recognized ecological races with multiple ploidy levels and morphologies. Flora of the Southeastern U.S. calls our plants Campanula intercedens Witasek, but it is not clear that this is the definitive circumscription since FSUS also notes that plants of the region have not yet been well-studied. For the time being, we will continue to use the traditional name until further clarity is attained.
Habitat
Limestone and dolostone barrens, outcrops, and cliffs. Rare in the Ridge and Valley region of the mountains.
Native Status
Native
