Comments
Endemic to a four-county area of western Virginia, and apparently found only on sites underlain by a single geologic substrate, the Elbrook Formation. This formation consists primarily of dolomitic substrates but contains minor inclusions of limestone, shale, and siltstone.
Habitat
Dry, open rocky, woodlands and barrens, less frequently occupying somewhat more mesic, wooded bluffs, ledges, road banks, and ravines. Rare in four sc. mountain counties: Botetourt, Montgomery, Roanoke, and Rockbridge.
