- Comments
- The species is native to the s. central and southwestern U.S. and Mexico, with scattered introduced populations eastward. In October 2007, Robert Wright found this species along US Hwy 460 in Campbell County, and in late summer 2013, he found it to be spreading rapidly in many counties along the I-81 highway corridor. It is clearly a quickly spreading weed in Virginia, and additional occurrences are to be expected in new areas.
- Habitat
- Open roadsides and median strips where mowed infrequently. Currently known from the Ridge and Valley and Southern Piedmont regions; locally common.
