A Southeastern endemic of longleaf pine woodlands and pine-oak scrublands, reaching its northern limit in se. Virginia. Sometimes treated as a variety of Crataegus munda, but differing in its longer thorns and taller (but still scrubby) habit.
Habitat
Known only from a single historical collection: dry, sandy woods, Factory Hill, Fernald & Long #6604, Aug 26, 1936 (HUH).
