Reported as new to Virginia in Castanea 75(1):134 (2010). Native to the western U.S. and certainly inadvertently introduced along George Washinton Memorial Parkway in Arlington County. Apparently established at this location; however, it remains to be seen if it will persist and spread. Also recently documented at Belle Isle, a large island in the James River in Richmond.
