- Achillea millefolium sensu lato is extremely variable and dozens, if not hundreds, of names have been proposed for various geographic and morphological segregates. Phylogenetic study by Ramsey et al. (2008, Evol. 62-63: 639-653) showed strong support for a monophyletic clade of North American A. millefolium that was distinct from Eurasian races of the complex; the authors determined that the correct name at species rank is Achillea borealis.
