According to Flora of the Southeastern U.S., Froelichia gracilis is native to the Midwestern United States and introduced eastward. Froelichia floridana (Nutt.) Moq.-Tand. var. floridana been erroneously attributed to Virginia. Though its occurrence here is not implausible, no voucher specimen is currently known to exist.
Habitat
Sandy fields, roadsides, clearings, railroad cinders, and waste dumps. Infrequent throughout.
