 - This species and Bothriochloa torreyana appear to be spreading steadily, especially along the I-81 corridor where they are conspicuous during the late summer and fall flowering and fruiting season.
Vars. ischaemum and songarica, based on minor differences of pubescence, are lumped by FNA. - Habitat
 - Highway medians and adjacent grassy areas where occasionally mowed. Locally common, sw. mountains; also documented in the City of Petersburg.
