- State record discovered in 2025 by Jennifer Stanley. The species has a primarily Midwestern distribution, with isolated relictual populations scattered throughout the Southeast and New England/New York (Kartesz 2015; Weakley & Southeastern Flora Team 2025).
- Habitat
- A total of 360 plants in an open right-of-way along an infrequently traveled gravel road through a pine plantation underlain by diorite and gabbro. Species associated with a high diversity of native, Piedmont prairie-affiliated herbs.
