- Winter Jasmine is a low shrub, native to China and cultivated in the southeastern United States. It is reported as a rare escape in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Texas.
- Habitat
- An enormous population of this shrub, containing hundreds if not thousands of plants, occurs on disturbed, wooded slopes along the Rappahannock River in Fauquier County. The plants obviously originated at a long-abandoned homesite but have spread some distance away, apparently mostly via layering and/or rhizomes. Other common and uncommon invasives are found nearby, including a 15-acre stand of Phyllostachys nigra (Black Bamboo).
